Harlington Carnival Update

Harlington Carnival Committee recently held a ‘Race Night’ at The Old Sun and raised a very respectable £228.20.  Thanks go to the landlords, Steve & Doug, for hosting the evening, to Dixon Jones for being a fantastic MC (he assured us he hadn’t done this sort of thing before!) and to everyone who supported the event.  All proceeds will be put to good use at this years Carnival, which if you haven’t yet put the date in your diary, now is the time to do it!  With the school Summer holidays nearly upon us,  Saturday 12th September will soon come around, so make sure you keep that date free.

Our booking secretary, Lyn Simmonds, has had quite an number of confirmed bookings for stalls already but it’s still not too late to book a pitch for your organisation.  The deadline has been extended to Tuesday 7th July 2009 – after which you may still be able to book (subject to space available) but there will be a late booking fee of £5 for village organisations and £15 for non-village organisations.  So there really isn’t a better time to confirm your pitch than NOW!  You don’t need to be organised enough to know exactly what your stall will be but just one phone call to Lyn on 873264 and your pitch will be booked!  Also, if your group would like to take part in the procession, you can also let Lyn know that too.

With this years theme being, Animal Kingdom, we are sure this will provide a basis for a variety of ideas for your stalls and for the Arena, this too is turning out to be a varied and full programme for the afternoon.  Confirmed so far we have Dog Agility, (Back by popular demand!)  A spectacular falconry display,  Truly fantastic Steel band and Superb Clowns! (If you were at Carnival 2007 you must surely remember how great the two clowns were and they promise to be even better this time!)
